About the designer
Marie Rychlíková
Marie Rychlíková is one of the pioneers of Czech ceramic art after World War II. Together with Lydia Hladíková and Děvana Mírová, she created the famous trio H + M + R, known as EXPO 58 in Brussels, where she created ceramic pieces for interiors, exteriors and architecture. Their work became part of the so-called Brussels style and won numerous awards, including a gold medal in Brussels.

Rychlíková graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague and from the early 1960s, she and her colleagues devoted themselves to ceramics for modern architecture. Their projects included, among others, the Invalidovna apartment complex in Prague, the Czechoslovak pavilion at Expo 1967 in Montreal and the legendary Ještěd hotel and the television tower by Karel Hubáček.
In her independent work, she designed ceramic tableware sets, decorative reliefs, candlesticks, vases, jars and experimented with electroporcelain – a material that accompanies her to this day. In cooperation with our company, her designs from the 1970s were reintroduced into production and supplemented with new glazes that connect the tradition of Czech technical porcelain with contemporary design.
