ABOUT
History
Keravitral was used from the 1960’s as a technical porcelain pottery brand producing mostly general use potery and tea and coffee sets. After a big boom in its first two decades, it slowly faded away until the 1999 when the KeraVitral brand was forgotten completely. In 2019 we have restore the idea of the once used material and technology and under the brand name DUC. With the research of tile and potery history of technical porcelain we have slowly started to purchase machines, knowledge, know how of many forgotten ceramic brands in the Czech Republic and in 2024 we have restored the KeraVitral s.r.o. as self standing brand again. With combining the knowledge of the former arcantits of the Vitral and Elekroporcelan Louny, Schlaggenwald, Keramo Kožlany, Dittmar Urbach and others we have managed to put together all the formulas for porcelain mass and its matching glazes, know-how of production of tiles, insulators and potery. We have started the manufacture production and with a great support of university professors we have consolidated so much information and material that nicely pushed us to find us a new home. This is what we have found in our beautiful factory in Plesná just few steps from German border in 19 century building with a great deal of tiles and hard porcelain history in its self. Took us almost a year of preparations and moving the circus and now at the beginning of 2025 we are ready to share our story with you and deliver the very best of tiles and potery of the past but cooperating with the best of designer to convert the craft to the future.
Factory
Our new home from 2024 is in Plesná in the Czech Republic on the border with Germany just over two hour drive to Prague, Munich or Dresden. This late 19th century monolith building with brick facades was originally built as a textile warehouse near the newly built railway. This lasted until the wars. Later it was used for production porcelain potery and later for ceramic tiles and mosaics. With a lack of maintenance in past 50 years we have started the repairs on the building and also replacing the original kilns. We have brought the many vintage machines as well and now putting them back to life. But we do also play with 3D printing and other new technologies, that we would like to blend within.
Supply chain and repeat box
The location of the factory has not been selected randomly. The most important raw material we need the kaolins, sands and feldspar we need the most are just around the corner so we can star to reduce our production carbon footprint. We are at the beginning but we would like to go as green as possible soon with energy and
water saving solutions.
We have also introduced our RepeatBox which we use for eliminating single use packing and instead we use our deposited returnable cases for La Luna Collection deliveries and researching the way to limit the packaging in general.
